Remote Captioner - SU (Schedule Universal) formerly RC2 position
Position Specifics
- Variable schedule comprised of a 15-hour per week block of programming and incremental caption hours chosen by the captioner based on desired schedule and earnings.
- This position has a minimum requirement of 22 on-air hours per week of captioning. Captioners average of 4.5 on-air hours per day
- Schedules are changed every two to three months
- A wide variety of programming.
- Guaranteed payment biweekly via direct deposit.
Compensation and Benefits
- Paid training salary, and then unlimited earning potential via paid on-air rate commensurate with prior TV captioning experience.

Technical Support and Training
- Captioner never sees a phone bill. VITAC assumes cost of all phone line installations and monthly charges.
- Hardware, software, dictionary conversion and full engineering and IT support provided free of charge.
- Paid Training Period, including one week of technical training at VITAC’s Canonsburg headquarters, and then remote follow-up training for up to 20 weeks.
Qualifications:
- Candidates are realtime writers, prepared to caption, with dictionaries that support a full range of programming.
- Accuracy Rate: no less than 98%
