Captioner - IH (In-House)
Position Specifics
- In-house captioners work a set schedule of five eight-hour work days per week, including one weekend shift. Within shift hours, captioners caption a 15-hour per week block of programming, choosing incremental on-air hours based on desired schedule and earnings.
- This position has a minimum requirement of 22 on-air hours per week of captioning. Captioners average 4.5 on-air hours per day.
- Schedules rotate every two to three months.
- A wide variety of programming.
- Captioners are guaranteed payment biweekly via direct deposit.
Compensation and Benefits
- Paid training salary, and then unlimited earning potential via paid on-air rate commensurate with prior TV captioning experience.

Technical Support and Training
- Hardware, software, dictionary conversion and full engineering and IT support provided free of charge.
- In-house captioners may be eligible for captioning additional hours at home with VITAC captioning setup, all telephone line costs paid by VITAC.
- Paid Training Period at VITAC's Canonsburg headquarters for up to 20 weeks of one-on-one personal training.
Qualifications:
- Captioning experience is preferred
- Candidates are realtime writers, prepared to caption, with dictionaries that support a full range of programming and accuracy/verbatim levels of no less than 98%.
- Will consider qualified recent graduates, who will undergo an extended, high-end training period.
