HD Captioning

For captioning customers and consumers, High Definition captioning can be a confusing topic.  VITAC is at the forefront of the HDTV evolution, offering full HD support to our customers, including:

Realtime HD

VITAC’s realtime captioning department is fully equipped to caption HD programming.    We’ve recently added new satellite receivers, HD encoders and an HD monitoring station, allowing us to monitor all HD programming and send both video and audio to our captioners.   The resulting improved caption quality and backup monitoring provides peace of mind to VITAC customers.

HD Encoding

VITAC offers offline captioning and subtitle encoding to all HD formats, including HDCam, HDD5 and DVCPro HD, with no initial down conversion and at affordable rates.

Multiple Caption Styles/Languages

HD programming has room for multiple caption fields, meaning one program can have many different captioning options:  English, Spanish, different reading rates, languages and extended data.  VITAC can provide all of these services for HD programming.

Technical Support

VITAC’s engineering and systems development team has helped cable networks, broadcasters and HD encoder manufacturers troubleshoot technical issues with their HD captioning systems.   This full HD captioning support is available to customers as part of VITAC’s captioning service.
